Cyclone Recovery and Relief Efforts

Due to the recent devastating storm in Myanmar (Burma) more than 100,000 people have died nationwide and the estimated death toll from this disaster continues to rise on a daily basis. Hundreds of thousands of families have been left homeless and are continuing their struggle to cope with this humanitarian crisis. Myanmar Charity Group is seeking your help to provide relief items such as food, water, medicine, and shelter to storm victims. We welcome all donations large and small and will post updates on our relief efforts.

Just to simplify the relief that can be provided through donation efforts, we have asked what the 5 most important items are. The list of basic supplies is simple. This is what a family of 5 needs to survive for a month:

  1. 25 lb of rice and 1 lb of salt $20
  2. 1 cooking pot $5
  3. 1 large mosquitoes net $10
  4. 1 blanket $5
  5. 1 large plastic sheet for providing temporary roof and shelter $10

Myanmar Charity Group would also like to urgently plea for additional donations that would provide medicine and water treatment products.

  1. Paracetamol/Tylenol for dengue fever
  2. Water treatment kit/tablets
  3. Clothing
  4. Rubber slippers
  5. Personal hygiene products

How the items will be distributed
MCG already has established local networks inside Burma to effectively distribute the relief supplies from these funds directly to the cyclone victims and we will not run into obstacles like other international NGOs are facing. Dr. Yin Min Thein, Han Thi Oo, and May Thu Wint who are Myanmar Charity Group representatives in Burma, will be organizing and distributing the necessary items.

Give a little! Help a lot!
