First of all, I would like to thank you for visiting this site and share with all of you out there how the decision was made to form this group. My close Burmese friends and I get together regularly at my place to enjoy my famous dish of Mote Hin Gar. On one of these occasions, we were talking about how difficult life is for the poor people in our country nowadays. They have to drink Hta Min Ye (rice soup) everyday by the bottle to survive since they cannot afford to eat rice. Tun Tun and I presented the group with an idea of forming an organization to raise money here in the U.S. and send it back to Burma for donation projects such as food, clothing, medical supplies, etc. Not surprisingly, all of us were interested in forming an organization and we decided to focus on the hardships faced by poor children in Myanmar and this is how the Myanmar Charity Group journey began. Originally Myanmar Charity Group had a very simple web site created by a friend in their spare time. Visitors to MCG site were several per week. Towards the middle of 2007 we saw the need for a complete redesign of the MCG site. In early 2008 the brand new site was launched with a cleaner, simpler look and a completely redeveloped backend. The new backend allowed users to log in to their own sections and then be able to modify any content from the entire site that they had permissions for. Added features also included formatting of members list (special thanks to Zaw Myo Naing for developing this) and a new improved image and thumbnail system. Through the visionary leadership and direction of our dedicated staff we have achieved a lot, but still there is much more to do. Myanmar Charity Group is pleased to announce that we have received confirmation from the IRS that their application for Federal 501(c)(3) Non-Profit status was approved on Aug 6, 2008 (EIN 20-3400342).I am very gratified that we received a good response from many people that were interested in participating in our group. Lastly, I want to encourage everyone out there to join our group and help out the poor children in Burma by either contributing your ideas, funds or collecting funds for Myanmar Charity Group. Your contributions will make a difference in the lives of many needy children in Myanmar. For more information on our activities and updates please visit us on the web at www.MyanmarCharityGroup.org. With best wishes, Hla Soe Naing President Myanmar Charity Group
