Mission Statement
Our organization's goal is to provide assistance for the education and general welfare of disabled and orphaned children living in Myanmar. Our mission cannot be accomplished without Metta (Myit-tar) and the generosity of our future contributors like you. Everyone can help out in different ways; every idea, comment, concern and complaint is welcome.
Who we are
Girl wearing school uniform Founded in late 2005 by a group of close friends and volunteers with their ideas, time, effort, and money who care deeply about the children of Myanmar. Myanmar Charity Group (MCG) has sought numerous ways to involve members to raise funds to help out unprivileged children living in Myanmar. Active members of MCG have participated in fundraising events such as “Naiban Zay” (Myanmar Food Festival) and also participated in TV show audiences. In addition, the group has collected generous donations as well. MCG targets homeless children and orphans who cannot afford to go to school or buy school supplies, buy food or medical supplies, and to attain young monkhood. Our organization is a non-profit organization and we do NOT get involved in any political or religious issues.
Why we are doing this
Insufficient clothing We believe that we can make a difference for children in Myanmar's urban areas and villages by collecting donation funds from Burmese and non-Burmese donors around the world, and redistributing the funds back to our specifically chosen charity projects in Myanmar. For the past few years, MCG has contributed $1600.00 to several orphan schools in Myanmar through two members who visited Myanmar and who volunteered to attend the sites and make appropriate donations.
Workflow / Project
MCG's aim is for each project to be designed by a broad team, including technical specialists, MCG's national staff, and the communities who participate in and benefit from the project. Research is done at the beginning to ensure that local needs and priorities form the core of the project's activities. Projects are regularly monitored and evaluated during their implementation and appropriate adjustments are made to ensure sustainability. Upon completion, projects are evaluated to determine their impact and effectiveness. Lessons learned are shared with other MCG Country Offices and staff through workshops, policy documents and the MCG international network.
Each project is based on the goal of improving the capacities of local people, development will be sustainable and the benefits of the project will continue. To achieve this, the needs, preferences and the beliefs of project participants are always central to project design and planned outcomes. Communities are often directly involved in the provision of labor and materials, which not only provides additional skills but also encourages ownership of the subsequent improvements in community services.
MCG has direct operational responsibility for its programmers. We have our own staff on the ground working with local partners and communities to directly deliver assistance. We plan, design, implement and evaluate projects with these local partners while retaining management and contractual control on all projects. This gives us a high degree of accountability and transparency.
Transparency
We highly encourage all visitors to become registered on the MCG website, because only registered members can access members and donors list pages. We are listing all of our financial records under Financial section.
