Hla Soe Naing (a) John, Co-Founder & President
Hla Soe Naing grew up in Yangon (Rangoon), Myanmar (Burma). He came to the United States about 12 years ago to study and graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a degree in Management Information Systems. He is currently working as a Systems Administrator for a Microsoft partner company in California, USA and lives in Orange County, California.
Hla Soe Naing never thought of himself as becoming a philanthropist until he went back to Myanmar a couple of years ago and saw kids selling food and goods at a Pagoda and on the streets struggling for survival instead of playing and studying. When he came back to the States he shared his experience back home with his friends by expressing how deeply it had touched him. All he wanted to do was to find a way to help those kids and decided to look into starting a nonprofit charity group.
Hla Soe Naing truly believes that Myanmar Charity Group can make a difference for underprivileged children in Myanmar by helping any way he can during his free time. He urges all of you out there that you can help our group by contributing a moment of your spare time or donating funds small or large.

Su Zin Thet, Secretary
Su Zin Thet was born in raised in Kamayut, Yangon, Myanmar. She came to the United States when she was 16. She graduated from Emerson Honor’s High School in Orange, California in 2001, and attended Irvine Valley College, where she received Associate’s Degree in Biology. In early 2004, Su discovered her passion to take care of people and that she would simply be happy if she could take care of people for a living. Su chose nursing, which she fell in love with from the very first day of classes. Su graduated from California State University of Long Beach in 2006 with a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Currently, Su is working as a registered nurse at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center in Labor and Delivery unit. Su says “every day at work is a challenge for me and I just love my job!” To get involved in a humanitarian work has always been her passion. Su realized how fortunate we are in the developing countries and how unfortunate people are in third world countries when she was learning about public health. Su then decided to actively get involved in a project which would benefit children back home in Myanmar. “I was, again, “fortunate” enough to meet Hla Soe Naing and Tun who also have the kind hearts to give back to children back home,” and that was how Myanmar Charity Group was founded. Su is so proud to be a part of this charity group: “everyone in this group is very genuine and truly passionate about the projects to raise money.” Su believes that everywhere, anyone can make a difference in someone’s life, no matter how small it is.
Nick Morell, Website Editor
Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Planning and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Currently he and his wife, Sangaroon (aka Lynn), reside in Diamond Bar, California. Nick is an Environmental Planner and works in the field of solid waste management, focusing on recycling programs, diverting waste from disposal in landfills and being reused. His belief in conserving natural resources and serving the needs of the community led him into a life of public service. One of Nick's favorite hobbies is gardening, both vegetables and ornamental plants. Nick believes that cultivating plants is symbolic of life --- with the proper environment and nourishment, success is almost always guaranteed. My hope is that with a broad and enthusiastic group of supporters, the Myanmar Charity Group will thrive and perform numerous projects that we can all be proud to watch flourish.
