Place : Myaungmya Date : June 10-12, 2008 UNICEF provided the name of six villages under Wakema where the people need assistance desperately. Contact was made with the Myitta Foundation (based in Myaungmya) to inquire about how to access those villages. Based on that information, our team decided to go to Myaungmya and then to proceed the villages under Wakema by boat. Our team left at 02:00am on 10 June. The driving time was 10 hours.
Upon arrival to this area, conditions at the UNICEF-indicated villages were found to be better-off than described in earlier reports and the decision was made to proceed to villages in Laputta Township.
